Raised on the family farm at Possum Brush near Nabiac and educated locally, Shane started his Real Estate career in January 1996 at the tender age of just 18. Shane’s early career was greatly influenced by his father Fred Merrick, a long-term Real Estate Agent, property developer and businessman who started his real estate and business career in the Hills district, Sydney in the late 1950’s.
Shane and his father opened Merrick’s Real Estate in Nabiac, a boutique Real Estate, Stock and Station agency that specialised in residential and rural lifestyle properties, in January 1996. This is
where Shane’s father trained him in old fashioned business traditions, and where he learned that integrity and honesty are the keys to a successful business.
After 12 years of success and service at Merrick’s Real Estate Shane decided in 2008 to move his real estate career to practice in Forster – Tuncurry. He thrived in a high paced and very competitive
marketplace. In 2015 Shane received a great opportunity to move into the real estate and development sector, working for Roche Group of Double Bay, Sydney. Here Shane had great sales success
with one of Australia’s premier real estate development and residential home building companies, as a sales and development manager. He experienced the joy of seeing residential land developments go from undeveloped bare parcels of land to neighbourhood’s filled with new homes within a few years. Shane
comments that this was a very rewarding and satisfying experience in his real estate career.
With over 28 years of real estate sales and property development experience under his belt, Shane is a Class 1 – Licensed Real Estate and Stock and Station Agent.
Away from business Shane is a dedicated family man who loves spending time with his wife (Joanne) and two young daughters on their hobby farm at Possum Brush where they enjoy a relaxed rural lifestyle. Shane and his family enjoy holidaying on cruise ships and other overseas travel when they can. Shane comments that his family’s overseas holiday travels have been great educational
experiences, especially for his young daughters.
